Today’s card was inspired by my team sketch challenge. I needed a birthday card to send out, so I came up with this idea and think it’s perfect!
Here are the supplies I used (not pictured is Silver Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool) …
Since it takes a little while to dry, I started off coloring the ribbon. I cut 4 pieces of the Silver Edged ribbon into 6 inch strips. Then I used the Stampin' Blends Marker to color them. The ink absorbs really well, so you don't have to color hard and you only need to color one side …
I set those aside to dry and began working on the stamped image. Using the piece of Night of Navy cardstock, I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark on the top center, then quickly stamped the image below …
I moved quickly to the embossing powder, so the VersaMark ink didn't dry. I have several jars of Silver Embossing Powder in a plastic container that I use quite often. Using my plastic spoon, I poured the powder over the stamped images and tapped of the excess …
Once the powder is applied, you don't need to rush to the next step. Just be careful not to touch the powdered area. If there is any stray areas of powder, you can use a small paintbrush to gently sweep the extra powder away.
Next is to heat emboss the image. I used my Heat Tool and aimed it at the image until the powder started to melt. You can see it start to become shiny. Then slowly move it along the rest of the image until the entire image is done …
It only takes a few moments to cool, but set that aside. Once the colored ribbon is completely dry, add some adhesive to the center back and attach it to the Melon Mambo cardstock. Repeat for the other 3 pieces, leaving about 1/4" in between …
Now flip it over and add a swipe of adhesive along both edges where the ribbon is …
Then firmly, but gently, fold the ends of the ribbon onto the adhesive to secure …Add adhesive (going over the ribbon also) and attach to the Night of Navy card base …
Next, I applied adhesive to the back of the stamped/embossed image and attached it to the piece of Silver Foil. Then I added Dimensionals to the back and attached it to the card front …
Since the Night of Navy is so dark, I added a piece of Whisper White to the inside. However, if you have a silver metallic ink pen, it would look really cool to write a note directly on the Night of Navy!
And here's the completed card …
