Hello, October! What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

How is it possible that we're already saying goodbye to September?
I feel like I was just hanging onto summer with both hands, refusing to acknowledge that fall was coming... and now October is right around the corner. πŸ˜‚
If you know me, you know I'm a summer girl through and through. Give me sunshine, hot weather, flip-flops, bright colors and a margarita and I'm perfectly happy. I'm definitely not one of those people counting down the days until I can pull out the sweaters. But, I have to admit there are some things about October that I'm really looking forward to.
So while I'm not quite ready to trade sunshine and 80-degree days for cold weather, I'm willing to meet October halfway. πŸ˜‰

πŸ‚ Okay ... Sweater Weather Isn't ALL Bad

There. I said it.
I'm still Team Summer, but there's something kind of nice about those first cool October days when you can throw on a comfy sweater or sweatshirt and leggings, grab a cup of coffee and settle in for a cozy day at home.
Notice I said cool. Not cold. Let's not get carried away here. πŸ˜‚
I like that little window when the air is crisp, the sun is still shining and you can actually enjoy being outside without freezing. That is my version of fall.

πŸ‘» Halloween Manicures Are Coming!

Now HERE is where October gets my attention.
Halloween nails! I love having an excuse to play with darker colors, glitter, fun patterns and combinations I might not normally wear. Purple, black, deep reds, metallics, spooky designs... yes, please!
And one of my favorite things about Color Street is mixing different sets together to create something completely different. Halloween is practically begging for mixed manis. I already know Callie over at Mani Boulevard is going to have some opinions about this. A chameleon surrounded by Halloween nail colors?
What could possibly go wrong? πŸ˜‚

✂️ And Then There Are the Halloween Crafts...

October also gives me a perfectly legitimate excuse to make cute Halloween things.
Cards, treat holders, little decorations, paper crafts - basically anything that involves pretty paper, stamps, ink and a little creativity.
Halloween crafting doesn't have to be scary, either. I tend to love the cute and whimsical side of Halloween - fun ghosts, adorable bats, silly monsters and projects that make you smile.
I'm already looking forward to spending some time with my Stampin' Up! supplies and seeing what I can come up with.
And I'm pretty sure Polly Paradise will be keeping Creativity Corner busy this month too.

🌴 Wait ... What Is Bowmanitaville?

If you're new here and wondering who Callie and Polly are (or why I apparently have a mayor, a nail salon and an entire tropical town hiding somewhere) welcome! πŸ˜‚
Bowmanitaville is my little virtual tropical town where crafting, colorful nails, creativity, friendship and everyday life all come together.
The name Bowmanitaville actually started years ago as the name of our home bar - a combination of our last name, Bowman, and my love of the laid-back Margaritaville state of mind. Over time, that little name grew into something much bigger. If you'd like to read more about it, I have another blog post you can check out right HERE
Today, Bowmanitaville has become the imaginary town behind my Facebook page and a fun way for me to bring together the things I love. Instead of simply posting about crafting, Color Street, Stampin' Up!, coffee, celebrations and everyday life, I've created a whole little tropical world where those things can happen.
There's Mayor Dawn (that's me!) along with a growing cast of quirky residents. There's Frankie Flamingo reporting the morning news, Callie Chameleon hanging out at Mani Boulevard, Polly Paradise creating over at Creativity Corner, Clancy Crab serving up drinks at Coffee Cove, and plenty of other residents you'll meet along the way.
There are beaches, a marina, Friendship Park, Town Hall, shops and little corners of town where our stories unfold.
And the best part? You don't actually have to know anything about Bowmanitaville to join in. Think of it as a sunny little virtual getaway where we're allowed to be creative, laugh at ourselves, make pretty things and have some fun along the way.
If you follow my Bowmanitaville Facebook page, you'll get to see the town stories unfold day by day. (You can follow me by clicking HERE ) And if you're just discovering Bowmanitaville through this blog ... Welcome to town! πŸŒ΄πŸ’œ
Now that we've got you properly checked in, let's talk about what's happening there in October ...

🌴 What's Next in Bowmanitaville?

This might be one of the things I'm looking forward to the most.
When I started turning my Facebook page into the virtual town of Bowmanitaville, I really didn't know exactly where it was going.
And that's become part of the fun. The town has grown. We've met new residents. We've discovered new places. We've watched friendships develop, followed little mysteries and stories, celebrated holidays together and gotten to know characters who somehow started feeling like actual residents instead of just illustrations on a Facebook page.
And there is still SO much more to come. October will bring more stories, more character moments, more town happenings and probably a few surprises that even Mayor Dawn doesn't know about yet.
That's because half the time I don't know what's going to happen until it happens. πŸ˜‚
I love having the freedom to let these characters and stories develop naturally, and I'm excited to see where Bowmanitaville takes us next.
One thing I can promise? Even when the rest of us are pulling out sweaters, Bowmanitaville is staying tropical. 🌴☀️ Somebody has to hold onto summer!

🧹 The Great Craft Room Rescue Continues

Ah yes. The craft room. Remember those "before" pictures? Unfortunately, they weren't staged. πŸ˜‚
I've officially started The Great Craft Room Rescue, and I'm determined to keep going. You can click HERE to see where I started.
My goal isn't to lock myself downstairs for an entire weekend and completely transform the room. I know myself better than that. Instead, I'm sticking with my plan of tackling it in manageable chunks - even if it's only 20 minutes at a time.
One shelf.
One container.
One pile.
One small victory at a time.
I'm hoping October brings some noticeable progress because I really want that room to become a place where I can walk in, sit down and CREATE instead of walking in, staring at everything and quietly backing out again. πŸ˜‚
I'll continue sharing the process here on the blog too - including the successes, the things that don't work and probably several discoveries that begin with: "Ohhhh! THAT'S where that went!"

πŸŽ‚ October Is Also My Birthday Month!

There's another reason October is special around here. It's my birthday month! And while birthdays definitely look a little different than they did when I was 20, I still think they're worth celebrating.
Another trip around the sun means another year of family, friends, dogs, crafting, laughter, mistakes, memories, ridiculous ideas, things I've learned and probably way too many craft supplies. I'll take it. πŸ’œ
Besides, I firmly believe birthday month sounds much better than birthday day. Why limit yourself to 24 hours? πŸ˜‚

πŸ’œ More Creating - Just Because I Want To

This is something else I'd like to make room for in October.
Not everything I create has to become content.
Not every card has to be photographed.
Not every manicure needs to promote something.
Not every craft needs a purpose.
Sometimes I want to make something simply because making things makes me happy. I think that's easy to forget when something you love also becomes part of your business.
So this October, I'd like to spend a little more time playing with my supplies, experimenting with nail combinations, using things I've been "saving," trying ideas that might completely flop and creating simply because I feel like creating. And if something turns out great? Well ... THEN I'll probably take a picture. πŸ˜‚

☕ Slowing Down Just a Little

Summer always feels busy to me.
There's something about October that naturally makes life feel a little cozier.
Earlier sunsets.
Coffee on cool mornings.
Sweatshirts.
Crafting inside.
Dinner cooking while the house feels warm and comfortable.
Dogs curled up nearby while I'm working on something.
Maybe that's another reason I'm starting to appreciate fall a little more than I used to. It's a reminder that slowing down doesn't necessarily mean doing nothing. Sometimes it just means enjoying what you're already doing.

So ... Hello, October

I'm still going to miss summer. I'm still going to complain when it gets cold. And I am absolutely NOT ready to discuss snow. πŸ˜‚ But I'm looking forward to what October brings ...
Halloween manicures.
Halloween crafts.
Sweater weather - within reason.
More adventures around Bowmanitaville.
More progress in my craft room.
My birthday.
More creating.
More stories.
More time with the people (and dogs!) I love.
And hopefully plenty of sunshine mixed in there too. ☀️
So bring on October. I've got crafts to make, nails to do, a virtual town to run and a craft room to rescue. That should keep me out of trouble. Probably. πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ

What Are YOU Looking Forward to in October?

I'd love to know!
Are you excited for Halloween? Cooler weather? Fall crafts? Cozy nights? Football? Changing leaves? Or are you hanging onto summer right along with me?
Tell me in the comments - what's one thing you're looking forward to this October?

Until next time ...

From Cozy Colors to Halloween Manis

πŸ’…πŸ‚ Your Fall Nail Wardrobe: From Cozy Colors to Halloween Manis

I have a confession to make.
While everyone else seems ready to throw on sweaters, drink hot cider and pretend 72 degrees is freezing ... I'm still hanging onto summer with both hands. πŸ˜‚☀️
But there is ONE part of fall I am more than happy to embrace early: The colors.
Deep purples. Rich reds. Gorgeous greens. Warm neutrals. Shimmer. Glitter. Florals. And yes...even a few pumpkins. πŸŽƒ
And when it comes to Color Street, changing seasons doesn't mean we have to put away everything we've been wearing and start over.
Actually, I think it's much more fun to look at all the different collections, pull out shades we already own, add a few new favorites and start mixing things together.
So today we're building ourselves a πŸ Fall Nail Wardrobe!
And trust me. There are WAY more options than orange and brown. πŸ˜‚

πŸ‚ The Poet's Muse: Romantic, Moody & Oh-So-Pretty

Let's start with Color Street's beautiful fall collection, The Poet's Muse. This collection feels like fall without relying on all the traditional fall clichΓ©s.
There are gorgeous florals, rich jewel tones, earthy shades, shimmer, checks and beautiful colors that can take you from the last warm days of summer straight through autumn.

The collection includes shades and designs such as:
Tapestry Blooms • Moon Garden • Woodland Fern • Doe-Eyed • Romantic Relic • Baroque Beauty • Velvet Verse • Bespoke Teal • Leather Bound • Floral & Prose
And you can add even more personality with the Gilded Meadow Mani Charms.

What I really like about this collection is how different the choices are. If you're a floral girl, there's something for you. Prefer rich, dramatic shades? Got those. Want something earthy and understated? Yep.
And then there's Velvet Verse. Purple. Do I even need to explain? πŸ’œπŸ˜‚

πŸŒ… Don't Forget About Painted Skies

This is exactly why I don't like putting nail collections into little seasonal boxes. Just because a collection wasn't specifically labeled “Fall” doesn't mean we can't make it fall.
The Painted Skies Collection has some beautiful colors and designs that can transition right into autumn - especially when you start looking at the shades individually instead of only as a complete collection.
September is actually one of my favorite times to play with colors like these. We're somewhere between:
“IT'S STILL SUMMER!” ☀️ and “Okay fine, I'll acknowledge the pumpkin.” πŸŽƒπŸ˜‚
So instead of immediately jumping from bright summer nails to traditional fall colors, Painted Skies gives us another option.

Take one of those shades and pair it with something deeper or moodier.
Add a rich solid.
Bring in a little shimmer.
Pair it with something from The Poet's Muse.
Suddenly that same set has an entirely different personality.

πŸ’… And Then There's the Core Collection 2026

Here's where I think we sometimes forget to look.
Every time Color Street releases a gorgeous new seasonal collection, we're all understandably distracted by the shiny new things. Ooooooh...new nails! πŸ˜‚
Meanwhile, the Core Collection 2026 is sitting over there saying: "Hello? Remember us?"
And there are SO many shades in the Core Collection that can work beautifully for fall.
Instead of only looking for something with leaves or pumpkins on it, think about color.
For fall, I love looking for shades in families like:
🍷 Deep reds, burgundies and wines
πŸ’œ Purples, plums and mauves
🌲 Greens and earthy tones
🀎 Warm neutrals
✨ Golds, bronzes, metallics and glitters
πŸ–€ Black and deeper dramatic shades
🧑 Warm coral, rust and terracotta tones
🀍 Creams and lighter neutrals for contrast
And here's the best part:
Those Core shades don't have to be worn alone. They can become the building blocks for all kinds of mixed manicures.

🎨 Welcome to the Wonderful World of Mixed Manis

Okay. THIS is where I start having way too much fun. πŸ˜‚
You absolutely do not have to wear ten nails from the same package.
Let me repeat that for the people in the back: MIX. THOSE. NAILS. πŸ’…
Take a patterned set and add a coordinating solid.
Use a glitter on two accent nails.
Mix two complementary sets.
Pull one tiny color from a design and find a Core shade that matches it.
Use leftover strips from another manicure.
Mix collections that were never technically intended to go together.
There are no Nail Police.
At least I haven't met them yet. πŸ˜‚

🍁 Mix The Poet's Muse With Your Favorites

The Poet's Muse practically begs to be mixed and matched.
Imagine combinations like:
Tapestry Blooms + Mauvelous
Velvet Verse + Moon Garden πŸ’œ
Doe-Eyed + Palace Gold
Woodland Fern + a complementary shimmer
Floral & Prose + a soft pink, cream or earthy shade
Or take one of the beautiful patterns and use it on only two or three nails while letting a coordinating solid do the rest.

You've completely changed the manicure - and stretched that patterned set even further. And don't be afraid to cross collections. A shade from Painted Skies might be exactly what a Poet's Muse design needs. A Core shade might pick up a tiny color in a pattern that you barely noticed before.
And glitter? Well ... Glitter is basically a neutral.
I will not be accepting arguments at this time. πŸ˜‚✨

πŸ–€ Ready to Get Spooky? Meet Dark Devotion

Now we're crossing over to the dark side.
If The Poet's Muse is romantic autumn, the Dark Devotion Halloween Collection walked into the room and said: “Cute. Now move over.” πŸ˜‚πŸ–€

This collection brings the Halloween drama. We've got rich reds, spooky scenes, harlequin patterns, black-and-white stripes, glitter, spiderwebs, pumpkins and gorgeous orange tones.
The collection includes:
Crimson Midnight • Midnight Manor • Mischief Masquerade • Halloween Nightfall • Widow's Kiss • Evening Amber • Pretty Pumpkins • Pumpkin Confetti
And there are Midnight Masquerade Mani Charms if your Halloween manicure needs a little something extra. Which, obviously, it might.

πŸŽƒ Halloween Nails Don't Have to Mean Ten Halloween Nails

This is another place where mixed manis can completely change the way you look at a collection.
Maybe you LOVE Pretty Pumpkins, but ten pumpkin-themed nails aren't your thing. Don't wear ten!
Use the design for a couple of accent nails and pair it with a coordinating solid.
Or imagine:
πŸŽƒ Pretty Pumpkins + warm orange, brown or gold
🏚️ Midnight Manor + black or deep purple
πŸ’‹ Widow's Kiss + a dramatic dark solid or glitter
✨ Pumpkin Confetti + a warm fall solid
πŸ–€ Mischief Masquerade + black, white or red

And again - those coordinating shades don't necessarily have to come from Dark Devotion.
Look through The Poet's Muse.
Look through Painted Skies.
Look through the Core Collection.
And most importantly ... Look through what you already own.

πŸ’… Shop Your Own Color Street Stash!

Yes. The Color Street Stylist just told you to go look at the nail strips you've already bought. πŸ˜‚
But hear me out. Before you choose a new set, pull out your stash. You may already have the perfect coordinating color sitting there waiting for you.
Maybe you have half a package of glitter left. Maybe you've got four strips from an older solid. Maybe there are a couple of strips from a retired design that you've been hanging onto because they're too pretty to throw away.
THIS is their moment. Those leftovers are mixed-mani gold.
Instead of thinking:
"I don't have enough of this set for another manicure..."
Think:
"What can I put WITH it?"
Now that leftover set isn't useless. It's an accent.
And your new Color Street set can help you use something you already paid for.
I LOVE that.

πŸ’‘ My Favorite Trick When Choosing a New Set

Here's something I think is helpful when you're shopping Color Street.
Instead of only asking: “Do I like this set?”
Ask yourself: “What could I wear WITH this set?”
That's a completely different question.

Maybe you're looking at a new patterned set and realize you already own two solids that coordinate with it. Now you've potentially got several different manicures instead of one.
Or maybe there's one versatile Core shade that would coordinate with three or four sets already sitting in your stash. That's a smart addition to your nail wardrobe.
And if you aren't sure?
Ask me! Seriously. Tell me which set you're looking at. Show me what you already have. Send me a picture of your Color Street stash. I will happily play Matchmaker for Your Mani. πŸ˜‚πŸ’…
That's WAY more fun than simply telling you what to buy.

🍁 Build a Fall Nail Wardrobe, Not Just a Fall Manicure

This is really what I want you to take away from all of this.
You don't necessarily need a pile of brand-new nail sets to enjoy fall.
Instead, think about creating a little Fall Nail Wardrobe.
Maybe that means:
✔️ One gorgeous patterned fall set
✔️ One versatile solid
✔️ One Halloween design
✔️ A great glitter
✔️ A few leftover strips from your stash
✔️ One completely unexpected color combination
Mix them. Match them. Change the accent nails.
Wear the same patterned set with two different solids and suddenly it looks completely different.
A few thoughtfully chosen sets can give you a lot of possibilities.
And frankly, deciding on the combinations is half the fun.

πŸ’œ A Little Note From Me

I share Color Street because I genuinely enjoy it.
I love changing my nails. I love seeing the new collections. I love coming up with combinations.
And I especially love seeing what everyone else creates.
So when I show you a new collection, I'm never trying to say: “You need every single one of these.” You don't.
I would much rather help you find something you're genuinely excited to wear. Maybe that's one set from The Poet's Muse.
Maybe you're a Halloween fanatic and Dark Devotion is calling your name.
Maybe you aren't interested in either collection but discover a gorgeous Core shade that's absolutely YOU.
Or maybe you already have plenty of Color Street and just needed a little inspiration to pull it back out and create something new.
But if you do decide to add something to your stash and choose to shop through me, please know that your order supports my small Color Street business. And I truly appreciate it. πŸ’œ
Whether you buy one set, several sets, or simply message me and say: “Dawn, HELP. What goes with this?” I'm happy to help.

πŸ‚ So ... What's Your Fall Nail Personality?

Now I want to know where you fall.
Are you...
🍷 Rich & Moody
🌸 Soft & Romantic
πŸƒ Earthy & Natural
✨ Give Me ALL the Glitter
πŸŽƒ Pumpkins, Obviously
πŸ‘» Cute & Spooky
πŸ–€ Full-On Halloween Drama
πŸ’œ Purple Is Appropriate for Every Season
🎨 Mixed-Mani Mad Scientist

Or are you staring at this list thinking “Yes.” πŸ˜‚
Because that's pretty much where I am.

And here's my challenge for you:
Before you pick your next manicure, go through your Color Street stash and find one set or leftover strip you've forgotten about.
Then look through the new fall collections, Painted Skies and the Core Collection and see what you could pair with it. You might be surprised by what you come up with.
And if you need a second opinion, you know where to find me. πŸ’…πŸ’œ

Happy Fall & Happy Manicuring! πŸ‚

πŸ‚ From Pretty Pumpkins to Spooky Nights - Fall Crafts

πŸ‚ Fall Has Arrived in My Craft Room!

I have a confession. I am not ready to give up summer. πŸ˜‚
You all know me ... give me sunshine, warm weather and a cold drink on the patio and I will happily pretend summer lasts forever.
But apparently my craft room did not get that memo. Because the minute September arrives and I start seeing pumpkins, sunflowers, rich autumn colors, cute little ghosts and Halloween goodies, something happens.
Suddenly I want to make ALL THE THINGS. πŸŽƒ✂️πŸ‚
And Stampin’ Up! is certainly not helping my self-control this year! There are so many fun products available for fall and Halloween - from Designer Series Paper and coordinating suites to complete kits and home dΓ©cor projects - that I thought it would be fun to gather some of my favorites together in one place.
Whether you love cute and spooky, warm and autumnal, or simply want an easy project you can sit down and enjoy, there’s a little something for everyone.
So grab your coffee, pull up a chair and come see what has caught my eye!

πŸ‘» For the Halloween Crafters: Frightfully Fun

Let's start on the spooky side of the craft table. If you love traditional Halloween colors and imagery, Frightfully Fun certainly understood the assignment.
The Designer Series Paper is filled with ghosts, cats, bats, spiderwebs, bare trees and plenty of orange, black, gray and white. But what I really like is that not every pattern screams HALLOWEEN.
There are coordinating stripes, stars, swirls and other patterns mixed in, which makes the paper much more versatile when you're putting projects together.
Use the bolder patterns as the star of your project, then bring in some of those quieter coordinating designs for backgrounds and layers.
What could you make with it? Ohhhh, where do we start? πŸ˜‚
Halloween cards, scrapbook pages, treat holders, gift tags, party decorations, little boxes for the grandkids ...
And this is exactly why I love Designer Series Paper. It does so much of the work for you.
Start with a great pattern, add a sentiment and a few embellishments, and suddenly you've made something that looks like you spent three hours creating it. We do not need to tell anyone otherwise. πŸ˜‰
Frightfully Fun DSP - 12"x12" patterned paper; product number 168168

πŸ¦‡ Want the Whole Coordinated Look? Check Out the Frightfully Fun Suite

This is where Stampin' Up! really gets me. I love when things coordinate. Give me stamps that work with dies that work with paper that works with embellishments and I am one happy crafter.
The Frightfully Fun Suite lets you build an entire Halloween project around coordinating elements instead of standing in your craft room holding six different papers together and asking: “Do these oranges match?” πŸ˜‚
You can make projects as simple or elaborate as you'd like. If you're a newer crafter, let the coordinating products do much of the designing for you. If you've been crafting forever and have accumulated enough supplies to open your own small craft store (ahem) start mixing the suite with things already in your stash. That's half the fun.

🏚️ Haunted Home: A Kit That Becomes Halloween DΓ©cor

Okay, now THIS is fun. The Haunted Home Kit isn't simply another card project. You're actually creating a three-dimensional haunted house! And just look at the details.
Dark rooftops, distressed walls, glowing-looking windows, bats, a ghost, pumpkins, a black cat, fencing and even that wonderfully creepy bare tree.
This is one of those projects where the crafting is only half the fun, because when you're finished ... you get to decorate with it!
Put it on a mantel. Add it to an entryway display. Set it on a shelf with some pumpkins and Halloween decorations. Create an entire little spooky village around it. Then when somebody compliments it, you get to casually say: “Oh, that? I made that.” You may act humble while saying it. Or not. I support both choices. πŸ˜‚
I also think a project like this would be fun to pull back out year after year. Instead of simply buying another Halloween decoration, you've made something yourself - and that makes it a little more special.

πŸ§™‍♀️ Witchy Whimsy: Halloween With a Little Crafty Flair

If haunted houses aren't your thing, how about a witch hat?
The Witchy Whimsy Hat Kit project is such a fun departure from traditional card making. You're creating an embellished witch hat filled with texture and Halloween details - spiderwebs, flowers, stars, a black cat and lots of layers.
It's spooky ... but it's cute spooky. And cute spooky is absolutely a category. I have declared it so. πŸ˜‚
I could see this sitting on a shelf in a craft room, tucked into a Halloween display, or becoming the centerpiece of a little Halloween vignette.
Projects like this are also a great reminder that paper crafting doesn't have to mean making cards. Paper, stamps, embellishments and our other crafting supplies can become decorations, gifts, keepsakes and all kinds of things. Sometimes it's fun to make something completely different.

🍬 Sweet & Spooky: Because Halloween Treats Need Cute Packaging

If you're someone who likes handing out little Halloween goodies, Sweet & Spooky Kit might be calling your name. Look at those treat packages!
Ghosts, pumpkins, bats, stars and cute little Halloween sayings like “Trick or Treat,” “Eek!” and “Hey Boo.” They're adorable without being scary, which makes them great for kids.
You could make them for grandchildren, classmates, neighbors, coworkers, teachers, a Halloween party or those extra-special trick-or-treaters. And yes, adults are absolutely allowed to receive Halloween treats. Again, I checked. πŸ˜‚
What I especially like about a kit for something like this is the convenience. You don't have to design the packaging from scratch. You don't have to figure out dimensions. You don't have to search through your supplies trying to find coordinating pieces.
The hard part has already been done. You get to do the fun part - putting everything together.
This would also be a great project to make with children or grandchildren. Although if candy is involved during the crafting session, I cannot guarantee how much will actually make it into the finished packages. Proceed accordingly. πŸ˜‚

🌻 Okay, But What If Halloween Isn't Your Thing?

Maybe you looked at the ghosts and bats and thought: Nope. Give me pretty fall. I've got you.
Because Stampin' Up! has plenty of autumn crafting inspiration that doesn't involve a single spiderweb.
Think sunflowers, pumpkins, leaves, florals, gourds and warm seasonal colors.
And these products can often carry you well beyond one holiday.

🌻 Sunflower Fields: Happy Fall Crafting

There is just something about sunflowers that makes me happy. They're cheerful enough for summer but transition beautifully into fall, which makes Sunflower Fields Suite especially versatile.
The gorgeous sunflower imagery works alongside warm autumn colors and coordinating patterns that could be used for so much more than one seasonal project. Think:
Birthday cards, friendship cards, thank-you cards, thinking-of-you cards, scrapbook pages, gift packaging and, of course, fall projects.
That's something I always consider when I'm looking at crafting products: How many different ways can I use this? If I can look at a suite and immediately imagine projects for several different occasions, that's a big plus for me. And sunflowers? Those are definitely not limited to one month on the calendar.

πŸŽƒ Painted Harvest Designer Series Paper: Autumn Without the Spooky

Now THIS is fall. The Painted Harvest Designer Series Paper gives you pumpkins, gourds, leaves, acorns, checks, stripes and lots of beautiful seasonal patterns.
What I especially love about collections like this is the variety. You've got those gorgeous larger patterns that can become the focal point of a project, along with smaller coordinating designs that are perfect for backgrounds, layers and accents.
You don't need an incredibly complicated card layout when your paper is this pretty. In fact, sometimes simple is better.
Cut the Designer Series Paper.
Layer it onto coordinating cardstock.
Add a sentiment.
Maybe add some ribbon or a couple of embellishments.
Done.
And because all those patterns coordinate, you could sit down for an afternoon and make an entire stack of fall cards without making the same card twice. That is my kind of productive crafting session. Preferably with coffee nearby.

🌸 Floral Promenade: Because Fall Doesn't Have to Be Orange

Here's another one I wanted to include because I think we sometimes get stuck thinking that fall crafting has to be orange, brown, yellow and dark green. It doesn't.
The Floral Promenade Kit has a beautiful watercolor look with soft pinks, purple, yellow and green paired with natural kraft tones. And yes ... I spotted the purple immediately. You expected nothing less from me. πŸ’œπŸ˜‚
The finished cards are beautiful for those times when you want someone to know they're loved, you're thinking about them or you simply want to send a little kindness through the mail.
And this brings me to something I've talked about before ...

✂️ I Really Do Love Stampin' Up! Kits

I recently wrote an entire blog post about Stampin' Up! kits because I think they're one of the easiest ways to enjoy paper crafting. And I don't mean they're only for beginners.
They're wonderful for beginners, but they're also great for experienced crafters who occasionally want someone else to do the planning. πŸ˜‚
Kits are especially nice if you:
✔️ Are completely new to paper crafting
✔️ Don't own a lot of crafting supplies
✔️ Want something portable
✔️ Like having everything coordinated for you
✔️ Don't want to spend an hour deciding what to make
✔️ Want an easy crafting afternoon
✔️ Need a gift for someone creative
✔️ Want a project to do with friends or family
✔️ Simply want to sit down and CREATE

I love having all my stamps, inks, papers, dies and other supplies around me when I'm creating. But sometimes? I don't want to think that hard. πŸ˜‚
Sometimes I want to open a box, spread everything across the table, make something pretty and enjoy myself.
There's absolutely room in the craft world for both.

Read my complete blog post about Stampin' Up! Kits HERE

πŸ‚ Which Kind of Fall Crafter Are You?

After looking through all of these goodies, I have determined that fall crafters apparently fall into several categories.
πŸŽƒ Put Pumpkins on Everything
πŸ‘» Cute & Spooky, Please
🏚️ Give Me the Haunted House
πŸ§™‍♀️ Whimsical Halloween
🌻 Sunflowers & Pretty Leaves
🌸 I'll Take Florals Over Ghosts
✂️ Just Give Me the Craft Supplies and Nobody Gets Hurt
And then there's me ... I'll take a little from each category. πŸ˜‚

πŸ’œ A Little Note From Me

Before you go, I want to say something that I probably don't say often enough.
I've been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for many years because I genuinely love paper crafting.
I love making cards.
I love pretty paper.
I love opening a new box of supplies.
I love sitting down with an idea and watching it turn into something I can actually hold in my hands.
And I especially love that something I've made can eventually end up in someone else's mailbox and brighten their day.
That's why I share Stampin' Up! products with you.
I'm never interested in turning every post into “BUY THIS! BUY THAT!” That's just not me.
But I also don't want to forget to tell you that yes, you can shop these products through me - and when you do, you're supporting my small Stampin' Up! business.
And I appreciate that very much. πŸ’œ
If you see something here that catches your eye but you aren't sure what you need, please ask me.
If you're a beginner and have absolutely no idea where to start, ask me.
If you're deciding between two products, ask me.
If you have a pile of supplies already and want to know what new product would work with them ...
Definitely ask me.
I would much rather help you choose something you're actually going to use and enjoy than convince you that you need something simply because it's available.
Because ultimately, that's what all of this is supposed to be about.
Making something. Having fun. And finding a little creativity in your day.

πŸŽƒ One Last Question...

You've just been given an imaginary shopping basket. You may choose ONE:
πŸ‘» Frightfully Fun
🏚️ Haunted Home
πŸ§™‍♀️ Witchy Whimsy
🍬 Sweet & Spooky
🌻 Sunflower Fields
πŸŽƒ Painted Harvest
🌸 Floral Promenade
What are you putting in your basket first? And yes, I said one. No, I don't particularly like that rule either. πŸ˜‚

Stampin’ Up! Kits: Creativity Without the Overwhelm

Have you ever looked at a beautiful handmade card and thought …
“I would love to make something like that, but I wouldn't even know where to start.”
Or maybe you're already a crafter, but sometimes you just don't want to pull out half the craft room to make something. πŸ˜‚
I completely understand both.

That's one of the reasons I think the Stampin' Up! Kits Collection deserves a little more attention.
As I'm writing this, there are 27 different kits available, and there really is something for just about every kind of crafter - from the person who has never stamped a card in their life to the seasoned paper crafter who simply wants an easy, relaxing project.
And kits aren't just cards anymore! There are cardmaking kits, scrapbooking projects, gift tags, seasonal dΓ©cor, kids' projects and more.

So grab your coffee (or a margarita, depending on what time you're reading this πŸ˜‰) and let's talk about why I think Stampin' Up! kits are such a fun way to get creative.

🌴 Why Kits Are PERFECT for Beginners

Walking into the world of paper crafting can be a little intimidating.
Cardstock.
Ink.
Stamps.
Adhesive.
Dies.
Punches.
Embellishments.
What do you actually need?!
A kit takes away most of that guesswork. Everything has already been coordinated for you, so you don't have to figure out which colors look good together or what size to cut your cardstock.
Depending on the particular kit, the supplies you need to complete the projects are included or clearly identified, and you receive instructions to walk you through the process.
Instead of wondering, “Where do I even begin?” you get to begin with:
Step 1. Open the box.
Now that's my kind of crafting. πŸ˜‚
And once you've made a few projects and start feeling more comfortable, you can begin experimenting. Change a sentiment. Move an embellishment. Add something from your own craft stash.
Before long, you're not simply following the instructions anymore. You're creating.

✂️ They're Also Wonderful for Experienced Crafters

Here's the funny thing about kits: they're marketed beautifully toward newer crafters, but I think experienced crafters sometimes underestimate how much fun they can be.
Because there are days when I absolutely LOVE sitting in Creativity Corner surrounded by cardstock, stamps, ink, dies and enough crafting supplies to make it look like Stampin' Up! exploded in there.
And then there are days when I just want to MAKE SOMETHING.
No designing.
No measuring.
No staring at six shades of cardstock wondering which one I want.
Just sit down, open a kit and craft.
There's something wonderfully relaxing about that.
And of course, nobody says you have to follow the directions exactly. If you've been crafting awhile, think of the included projects as a starting point. Change them. Embellish them. Mix things around. Make them yours.

πŸ‘œ Creativity To Go

This might be one of my favorite things about kits. They're portable!
You don't have to pack your entire craft room every time you want to take your creativity somewhere.
Kits can be great for:
  • Vacations and weekend getaways
  • Camping trips
  • Craft nights with friends
  • Girls' weekends
  • Waiting rooms
  • Visiting family
  • Snow days
  • A quiet afternoon on the porch
  • Taking along to the cottage or cabin
Basically, anywhere you can claim a little table space can become your temporary Creativity Corner.
And compared with packing cardstock, a paper trimmer, ink pads, stamp sets, dies, a die-cutting machine, adhesive and seventeen other things you suddenly decide you might need, one little kit sounds pretty darn fabulous. πŸ˜‚

πŸ’Œ Not Just Cards!

This is something I especially wanted to point out because the current Kits Collection has become incredibly varied.
There are plenty of gorgeous card kits, but there are also projects for people who might not necessarily think of themselves as cardmakers.
Right now, the collection includes things like scrapbooking, gift tags, seasonal projects, dimensional projects and home dΓ©cor. And the styles are all over the creative map, too.
There are soft florals and cheerful everyday designs, along with Christmas, Halloween and other seasonal options.
That makes kits a fun way to try a type of crafting you've never done before without investing in an entire collection of supplies first.

πŸ‘― Kits Make GREAT Group Activities

Now here's where my brain starts getting ideas ... wouldn't these be fun for a girls' craft night?
Put out some snacks, pour your beverage of choice, give everyone a little workspace and start crafting.
You don't have to spend hours preparing projects beforehand because the designing and coordinating have already been done.
They're also great for crafting with kids or grandkids, family get-togethers and introducing a friend to paper crafting.
In fact, if you've ever had someone tell you: “I'm not crafty.” Hand them a kit.
I love watching that sentence turn into: “Wait...I MADE THIS?!” Yes, yes you did. ❤️

🎁 And Don't Forget About Gifts!

Here's another idea I don't think people consider often enough - a Stampin' Up! kit can BE the gift.
Instead of giving someone another candle, mug or random thing that eventually ends up in a closet, give them an experience.
Choose a kit that fits their personality, wrap it up and give them an afternoon of creativity.
You could even turn it into a little Creative Care Package with snacks, chocolates, coffee or tea and a handwritten note. Or ...
Give someone a completed project you've made from one of the kits. That's the beauty of crafting - you can give the creativity or the finished creation.

🌺 Which Kit Would I Choose?

Okay, this is where things get dangerous. πŸ˜‚ With 27 kits currently available, I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to say, “I'll take one of each.”
But LOOK AT THEM!
There are gorgeous florals, bright cheerful designs, sweet everyday cards, Christmas projects, Halloween projects and some really fun dimensional creations.
And because Stampin' Up! regularly adds new kits while others eventually retire or sell out, the Kits Collection is worth checking periodically.
You just never know what's going to show up.

πŸ’œ My Favorite Thing About Kits

More than anything, I love that kits make creativity approachable.
You don't need a dedicated craft room. You don't need hundreds of dollars worth of supplies. You don't need years of crafting experience. And you definitely don't need to consider yourself "creative."
You just need somewhere to sit, a little bit of time and the willingness to play. That's it.
Sometimes creativity doesn't need to be complicated. Sometimes it can come in a box. ❤️

🌴 Ready to Find Your Kit?

There are currently 27 Stampin' Up! kits to choose from, so whether you're looking for an easy introduction to crafting, something portable to take along with you, a project to enjoy with friends, or simply a relaxing afternoon of creativity, there's probably one waiting for you.
Take a peek through the current Kits Collection and tell me which one catches your eye!
And if you're completely overwhelmed by the choices, that's okay too. Send me a message and tell me who you're crafting for or what kind of projects you enjoy, and I'll happily help you narrow it down.

Happy crafting!

Until next time,
xoxo
