Yessss!! I am half way through the challenge already!! It has been challenging to come up with different cards, but I do have a lot more ideas! So I know I will be able to complete this challenge.
I have card 15 for you. For todays card, I’m using a few different techniques ... Watercoloring, Coloring with Blends Markers and Heat Embossing. Some of my favorite techniques! Here are the supplies I’m using (a complete list will be at the end of this post) ...
I started with Watercoloring. Fill the Aqua Painter with water and squeeze it a little so the water works its way to the tip. Keeping the Bermuda Bay ink pad closed, give it a few squeezes. When you open it, ink will be transferred to the lid of the ink pad. Pick up some of the ink with the Aqua Painter by gently squeezing and swirling it around in the ink …
Softly swipe the ink across the Whisper White cardstock, until you get the desired effect. When you're done, you can use the Heat Tool to help dry it. …
Using the Stamparatus for the next part, I put a scrap of Whisper White cardstock in position. (The green cardstock is a guide that I created to help position the cardstock away from the edges) I placed the Mermaid stamp on the Whisper White cardstock and closed the hinged plate to pick it up. Then I inked up the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and closed the hinged plate …
You can use a baby wipe or shammy to clean the stamp, but leave the stamp in position on the hinged plate.
I let the ink set and dry for a few moments, then began coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. I started with Ivory, then Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Lovely Lipstick, and then Daffodil Delight. You can use any color combination you prefer …
I let the ink dry, then put it back in position in the Stamparatus. I inked up the stamp with VersaMark, and pressed it over the stamped image …
While the VersaMark was still wet, I poured Silver Embossing Powder over the image, then tapped the excess off. I then used my Heat Tool to melt and emboss the powder …
Once the Embossing cooled, I used scissors to cut out the image. Then I used the blends to rub around the edges so no white was showing …
I set that aside and using Bermuda Bay ink, I stamped the seaweed on the watercolored piece. I stamped some of the seaweed off the paper so that it appeared to be different heights …
When watercoloring, the cardstock tends to warp a little from the water. So make sure to add adhesive all around the edges before attaching it to the Bermuda Bay layer. Then attach that to the Balmy Blue card base …
I cut a 2"x1 1/2" piece of Whisper White, and stamped the sentiment with Bermuda Bay, then added a few swipes of adhesive to the back. Then I wrapped some Silver Metallic thread around my fingers several times, then twisted it and attached it to the back of the sentiment …
I added dimensionals to the mermaid and sentiment, and attached them to the card front …
And it was complete! …
That's it for todays card. I'm not entirely happy with the way the sentiment looks though. Maybe next time I'll cut it a little smaller, and add a Bermuda Bay layer behind it … we'll see lol.
Here are all of the supplies that I used today. If you would like to purchase any of these items, they are available on my online shopping website … DawnBowman.StampinUp.net
